Mr. Charles E. Smith-Obit

Mr. Charles E. Smith, A Public Spirited Citizen, Dies.
On last Sunday night at his home Mr. Charles E. Smith at the age of 67 years, breathed his last after a long illness. He was a man of sterling character and was wholly devoted to his friends and undertakings. He will be long remembered with gratitude by the people of Wilkes he was untiring in his efforts to befriend them. He was the father of all our rural mail routes. To his bereaved family the public extends a heartfelt sympathy.
His remains were interred in our city cemetery Monday afternoon. The following Confederate Veterans acted as pall bearers: C. E. Irvin, R. L. Foreman, John H. Fitzpatrick, H. T. Slaton, A. A. Barnett, and J. M. Fluker.
