Smith-Obit</title><content type='html'>Mr. Charles E. Smith, A Public Spirited Citizen, Dies. &lt;br /&gt;On last Sunday night at his home Mr. Charles E. Smith at the age of 67 years, breathed his last after a long illness. He was a man of sterling character and was wholly devoted to his friends and undertakings. He will be long remembered with gratitude by the people of Wilkes he was untiring in his efforts to befriend them. He was the father of all our rural mail routes. To his bereaved family the public extends a heartfelt sympathy. &lt;br /&gt;His remains were interred in our city cemetery Monday afternoon. The death certificate for John Henry Kelley states "Henry Kelley" is his father,  no mother is listed.  What is needed is the &lt;em&gt;&lt;strong&gt;complete name of "Henry  Kelley," name of his wife and other children&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/em&gt;. I discovered a  marriage record on line in Wilkes County for Samuel Kelly and Jenny Moore, Sept.  16,1806.  I do not know if this is the right Samuel Kelly.  Samuel lived in  Jones Co. in 1820, but do not know where he lived before 1807 or who his parents  are. Samuel's children, Sidwell, Washington, Miles, and William Owen, were all  born in Jones Co.
